2015-Scholarship-WinnersCampus Dining Services is proud to be one of the largest employers of students on the campus.  As of last Saturday we had 689 students in our employ.  You and the students you work with are one of the biggest resources we have, which makes you vital to our success.  We want to say “Thank you for all your hard work and dedication this year!”

This year also marks the Fifteenth Anniversary of the Campus Dining Services’ Student Employee Scholarship Program!    To date, Campus Dining Services has awarded 132 scholarships for a total of $64,100. This year we are very pleased to be able to award these Student Employee Scholarships for $750 each.

Christine Breakfield            Wheatstone Bistro    Medical Dietetics

Christine is a junior and has worked with us at Eva J’s, Mark Twain Market, and is currently doing a dietetics internship with Plaza 900.  Christine is a student clerk, responsible for reconciling daily safe balances for Wheatstone Bistro, Starbuck and Bookmark Café.  Christine serves as the Social Chair for Tau Sigma, and is a member of Kappa Omicron Nu and Phi Kappa Phi.

Nick Castellano                  Mizzou Markets          Biology

Nick is a junior, Biological Sciences major with a minor in Business and has worked for the Mizzou Markets since Sept. 2010, and was promoted to a student supervisor/accountant position in December 2010.  Nick is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the MU College Republicans. He has served as the Scholastic Chairman, Recruitment Chair and on the Judicial Board for his fraternity and is involved with fund raising activities for the Leukemia Foundation, and volunteered for the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge.  Nick’s goals include attending the UM-St. Louis College of Optometry, after graduation in May 2012.

Amanda Del Buono            Eva J’s                        Journalism

Amanda is a sophomore and has worked at Eva J’s since February 2010.  Amanda is involved with the Maneater and works with the MU United Way.  At Eva J’s Amanda has learned each of the different areas in facility and often assists in training new team members.

Kevin Guevara                    Student Center          Hotel & Restaurant Mgt

Kevin is a freshman and began working at the Student Center this fall.  Beyond earning a spot on the Dean’s List for Fall Semester, Kevin serves as the Freshman Representative of the Asian American Association, is an active member of the Official Dance Team from Rec Club Sports and is an active member of the MU Filipino-American Student Association.

Courtney Harrison                Rollins                      Political Science & Psychology

Courtney is a sophomore and has worked at Rollins since August of 2009, and is currently a student supervisor.  Last fall Courtney helped open Rollins Late Night and assisted with decisions to improve services.  Courtney has been on the Dean’s List since 2009, and earned a 4.0 last semester, while serving on the executive council for Alpha Phi Omega and she currently serves as the Membership Vice President, assisting with multiple service activities.  Courtney also volunteers at the True North Shelter, volunteers as a sober driver for STRIPES.  Upon graduation Courtney plans to enter Law School.

 

Devin Nickell                       Plaza 900                    International Studies & Political Science

Devin is a sophomore, who has worked at Plaza 900 since October 2009, and currently serves as a student supervisor, and is responsible for training other employees.  Devin currently participates in AIESEC Mizzou (an organization that serves as a bridge between international students and companies searching for internship participants), “Chinese Corner” meetings and the Mizzou Language Partner Program.   Devin’s career goals are to become a foreign policy analyst in the CIA.

Yaniv Shnaider                   CDS IT Dept.               Information Technology

Yaniv is a junior, and has worked in the IT department of CDS since November 2009.  Yaniv is from Israel, and served three years with the Israeli Defense Force in a computer unit, before coming to MU.  Yaniv is a scholar athlete on MU’s Swimming team and also swims on the Israeli national team.  Yaniv also works as a tutor assisting other MU students with computer science classes, he is also on the Dean’s List and was honored as the athlete of the week in October 2010.  Yaniv plans to work in cyber security upon graduation.

Caleb Smith                         Mizzou Market SW     Psychology

Caleb is a junior and began working with Mizzou Market Southwest in January 2010.  Caleb serves as student supervisor, a Worship Team and Band leader for Campus Crusade for Christ, a member of University Singers, volunteers with the Access Arts Studio, is a youth group mentor with Grace Bible Church and will be going to Cambodia this summer to help with A Greater Hope Orphanage.


We would now like to recognize our 2011 Campus Dining Services’ Student Employee of the Year, Paul Frauen.  Paul has worked at Mizzou Markets since January 2010, and was promoted to the position of student supervisor in December 2010.  Paul is a Mechanical Engineering major, whose organization and analysis skills were effectively utilized in the January 2011 opening of Mizzou Market Central.  Paul has been instrumental in assisting with the MICROS Point-of-Sale System, Inventory, Store Product Mix (recommending changes to the products offered) and Organization of the Storeroom at Mizzou Market Central.  Paul is also active with the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity having served on the Executive Council, as the Internal Vice President and House Manager, and currently serving on the Executive Council as a Member-at-Large.  Paul is a member and treasurer of the Mizzou Men’s Club Soccer team, has served as the Head Coach of the Columbia Alliance Soccer Club since August 2009 and has been the Vice Chair of the Mizzou Club Sports Federation since April 2010.
