You can use your meals in any of three all–you–care–to–eat or ten residential block plan restaurants. In the all–you–care–to–eat facilities, one meal is deducted from your account upon entry. At residential block plan restaurants, each item is priced in dollars that are converted to meals at the register.

The guest meal price at residential locations is $9.00 for breakfast and $11.00 for lunch and dinner. The block plans provide meals at discounted prices: $6.84 per meal on Block 275, $7.75 per meal on Block 200 and $8.50 per meal on Block 150.

Mizzou offers open dining; you may choose to dine in any residential block plan restaurant or all-you-care-to-eat facility regardless of where you live on campus. Additionally, you may share your meals. As the account holder, you must be present to purchase meals for your guests.

At select locations you may also purchase meals to go.

  • Give strong consideration to the dining plan you choose. All remaining meals are forfeited at the end of the semester; there is no refund for unused meals at the end of each semester
  • You may change your dining plan until the last day to drop a course without a grade for the semester/summer session
  • If you do not make a change, your dining plan resets to your prior semester’s selection.

How do I use dining plans in residential block plan restaurants?

At residential block plan restaurants, students and guests order from a menu or select items from a shelf. These items are priced in cash and are converted to (or exchanged for) partial meals when they check out with the cashier. Here’s an example:

Baja Grill is a Caribbean-Mexican restaurant that operates as an a la carte dining plan location. If you choose a Chicken Quesadilla ($3.25), an order of chips ($1.00) and Baja’s Signature Bean Dip ($2.75); the order total totals $7.00.

The student or guest tells the cashier they are paying with their dining plan, gives the cashier her/his ID card, and the cashier swipes the card, removing one meal. In a residential block plan restaurant, students can exchange 1 meal for $7.00. If the student purchases less than $7.00 or more than $7.00, partial meals are deducted from their dining plan. For example:

Cheese Quesadilla $     2.75
Salsa $     0.75
Total $     3.50

In this case, the cashier deducts .5 meal from the student’s dining plan.

How to Maximize The Tiger Plan Value

  1. Add the additional $100 in flex dollars (the max you can). This immediately adds more purchasing power at all of our facilities. That $100 is $200 at restaurants, $120 at Mizzou Markets and $270 at all-you-care-to-eat facilities.
  2. Eat at all-you-care-to-eat facilities 100% of the time. $945 total value on The Tiger Plan and $1702 total value on The Tiger Plan Plus.
  3. Eat at all-you-care-to-eat facilities 50% of the time. The extra value covers the base cost.

How the Plan Works

The Tiger Plan is a new off-campus dining plan. The plan has two components: a base cost to cover fixed expenses including labor, utilities, maintenance, Student Affairs programs and services and the remainder as flexible spending/decreasing balance dollars. All Campus Dining Services locations honor The Tiger Plans. A discount of up to 63% applies on your purchases, depending on where the plan is used.

Flex dollars roll over from Fall Semester to Spring Semester, and expire at the end of the Spring Semester. If the customer cancels the plan, a refund of the prorated amount of the flex dollars is given. The base cost is retained by Campus Dining Services.

If The Tiger Plan is purchased for Fall Semester, the plan automatically renews for the Spring Semester unless canceled by the due date.

  • In the all-you-care-to-eat locations, the customer receives a 63% discount on the cash price.
    • This category includes Rollins, Plaza 900, and The MARK on 5th Street (lunch).
  • In our restaurants, the customer receives a 50% discount* on the cash price.
    • This category includes 1•5•3 Salads & Soups, 1839 Kitchen, Baja Grill, Bookmark Café, Catalyst Café, Do Mundo’s, Emporium Café, infusion, j café, Kate & Emma’s, Legacy Grill, The MARK on 5th Street (breakfast and dinner), Mort’s, Olive & Oil, pomodoro, Potential Energy Café, Rollins @Night, Sabai, Starbucks (Memorial Union and Southwest), Sunshine Sushi, Tiger Avenue Deli, Truffles and Wheatstone Bistro.

  • In the Mizzou Market Convenience Stores, the customer receives a 20% discount on the cash price.
    • This category includes all Mizzou Market convenience stores & Subways (Central, Hitt Street, and Southwest).
  • Gift cards cannot be purchased using The Tiger Plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my Flex Dollars roll over to the spring semester?

Remaining Flex Dollars will carry over to the spring semester if your plan automatically renews (see below) OR another Tiger Plan is purchased in the spring semester.

Does the plan renew automatically?
If The Tiger Plan is purchased for a fall semester, the plan will automatically renew for the spring semester unless cancelled by the listed due date.
Who is eligible for the plan?
Student living off campus may purchase the Tiger Plan.
What do I do if I use all my flex dollars?
The customer can add up to $100 in additional flex dollars per semester. To do this, simply call our office at 573-882-3663, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
When do the flex dollars expire?
Flex dollars roll-over from the fall to the spring, but do expire at the end of the spring semester.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes. If the customer cancels the plan, a refund will be given according to the prorate chart. Customers will be refunded the flex dollars only. The base cost will be retained by Campus Dining Services.
What is the base cost?
The base costs of the Tiger Plan covers fixed expenses, including labor, utilities, maintenance and repairs, mortgage, and Student Affairs programs and services.

The simple solution for meals, snacks and beverages on campus

Tiger Cash is ideal for any student who carries a Mizzou ID card and spends time on campus. The TigerCard Manager allows users to deposit funds into a prepaid account that can be used at The Mizzou Store and all Campus Dining Services locations. Students and family members can deposit funds at or in person at the Campus Dining Services office above Plaza 900 or The Mizzou Store customer service desk in the MU Student Center.

Note: A valid Mizzou TigerCard is required to use Tiger Cash.

Is Tiger Cash for you?

Yes! All students can use Tiger Cash at any Campus Dining Services (CDS) location and Mizzou Markets.

How can I add funds to my Tiger Cash account?

For Tiger Cash, we recommend that you add about $400 per semester. Every time you make a Tiger Cash purchase, it deducts from your account. Visit the tigercard website to add money to your Tiger Cash account. To add money as a guest, choose the option labeled “Make Deposit.”

Do I forfeit any unused balance in my Tiger Cash account at the end of the semester?

You don’t lose anything! The deposits made into Tiger Cash accounts carry across semesters. When you leave the university, the remaining balance is credited to your university account upon request.

* The University reserves the right to modify by increase or decrease the fees charged for attendance and other services at the University, including but not limited to educational fees, at any time when in the discretion of the governing board the same is in the best interest of the University, provided that no increases can or will be effective unless approved by the governing board not less than thirty (30) days prior to the beginning of the academic term (semester, etc.) to which the fees are applicable and such increase does not exceed ten (10) percent over the fee level existing immediately prior to the increase, with all modification of fees to be effective irrespective as to whether fees have or have not been paid by or on behalf of a student prior to the effective date of modification.
